Stronger With Charlene

About

Hi, I'm Charlene.

NASM-certified trainer, certified nutritionist, and the woman behind Stronger With Charlene. I coach strength and nutrition entirely online from Fort Worth, Texas, so I work with people wherever they train.

I'm the woman behind Stronger With Charlene LLC — a NASM-certified personal trainer, and someone who would happily lift weights all day if responsibilities would stop being so needy.

I'm a wife first, a mother second, and a grandmother, too. My family means everything to me, but I would also appreciate some uninterrupted time to lift weights and stare at myself in the mirror, admiring the woman I've built — and how amazing she looks in her activewear. Listen, I worked hard for this. I'm allowed to enjoy the view.

But my journey didn't start with confidence, cute workout clothes, or knowing what the hell I was doing. It started with being sick and tired of feeling sick and tired — and recognizing a future I didn't want.

How I got here

In my culture, I grew up hearing a lot of "this is just the way it is." You get older, you get sick, and you accept it. But hearing something your whole life doesn't make it a fact.

I watched my dad develop diabetes in his early forties. By his mid-forties, some of his organs were failing and his muscles were deteriorating. In his fifties, he was bedridden. In his sixties, he became an amputee. Before he passed away, he needed dialysis three times a week and help with his most personal needs. Along the way, he also suffered a stroke and, ultimately, a heart attack.

My mom also lives with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. Now I'm seeing changes in her memory, too.

I share this with love. My parents didn't have the knowledge and support they needed to understand what they could change or how to better manage their health. Their experiences taught me how much that matters. We can't prevent every illness or control every outcome, but we can learn habits that support our health and may reduce the risk of — or help manage — many chronic conditions.

So when I started seeing my own health follow a familiar path, I wanted to change its direction. Then came the comments: "You're getting older." "It's too late." "You can't expect to look like you did in your twenties."

What the fuck kind of encouragement is that? I wasn't trying to be twenty again. I was trying to give myself a chance to age a lot fucking longer than my dad.

I started working on my health at forty. At forty-four, my health looks very different: diabetes is no longer part of my current diagnosis, and I no longer take blood pressure or cholesterol medication. Those are my personal results, and everyone's health journey is different. I'm also working on my mental health, with the hope of eventually reducing or coming off antidepressants if that becomes appropriate with my prescriber.

And the changes go far beyond my medical chart. I sleep more soundly. I have energy throughout the day. I can get through my responsibilities without dreading every single one because I feel weak and exhausted.

I feel like supermom because I have the energy to show up for my daughter's events. I feel more like myself as a wife. I'm keeping my home in order and making dinner most nights. The chaos is finally manageable — except for this damn social media. Apparently, that requires its own intervention. 😂

And sex with my husband? Back on point. Yes, that made the bio. We're talking about quality of life here.

Along the way, I learned to think about food as nourishment and fuel while still enjoying what I eat. That doesn't mean every meal has to taste like disappointment with a side of steamed broccoli. Food can taste amazing and support your energy, strength, and health. Learning how to do both has been a huge part of my journey.

Why I coach

I know what it feels like to be exhausted, overwhelmed, and convinced that taking care of yourself is one more thing you don't have room for. I also know how meaningful it is to start feeling stronger and more capable again.

Through personalized strength coaching, practical nutrition guidance, and steady support, I help women work toward building muscle, getting stronger, and feeling better in their everyday lives. We work with the life you actually have — including the family, the job, and the days when everyone apparently needs something at the exact same time.

Everything I offer is online only, so distance isn't a factor. I'm based in Fort Worth, Texas, and your program, technique feedback and nutrition guidance all reach you remotely, so you can train wherever works for you.

Outside of coaching, I'm a school bus driver — and yes, I love that, too. Apparently, helping people get where they need to go is a recurring theme in my life. Sometimes it involves dumbbells. Sometimes it involves reminding someone to sit down for the fourteenth time.

I love the ocean, arts and crafts, and traveling. Someday, I hope to own my very own giant dog breed rescue, because my dream life apparently involves lifting heavy things and being surrounded by dogs who weigh as much as I do.

I want other women to know that getting older doesn't mean you have to give up on feeling good. You deserve support, useful information, and the opportunity to discover what you're capable of in this chapter of your life.

And if that includes stopping to admire yourself in your activewear? I fully support that.

Muscle is worth training for

It's what makes everyday life feel easier — and it takes deliberate work to build.

Food is fuel

Eating to support your training isn't a diet. It's knowing how much, what, and when.

Consistency over perfection

Steady sessions and steady eating compound into visible change.
